What’s great about Standby Buster?
The handy remote gives you direct control over your electrical appliances. Standby Buster is approved by the Energy Saving Trust (EST), guaranteeing consumers that a product saves energy and therefore reduces carbon emissions.

Who are EST?
The Energy Saving Trust (EST) is a non-profit organisation that provides free impartial advice to the public and businesses. The ‘energy saving recommended’ logo means that a product has met strict criteria to ensure it delivers a real energy saving benefit, runs efficiently and helps reduce carbon emissions. The test criteria is set out by EST with advice from industry experts.

Is Standby Buster approved for use in the UK?
Standby Buster conforms to all relevant British Standards (BSI) for use in the UK. The product also complies with CE European Conformity and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives.

Does Standby Buster work with anything?
Standby Buster will work with any mains powered product, irrespective of whether it has a standby function. Standby Buster does not need line of site to operate. This means it can be plugged in to your hard-to-reach wall sockets which can then be controlled with ease.

How many appliances can be connected to each Standby Buster socket?
The Standby Buster socket can have multiple devices connected to it, typically by using a conventional extension block (not included). The socket is rated at 3.65kW.

What are remote zones?
The Standby Buster remote control has four pairs of ON/OFF buttons. Each of these pairs represents a zone and any number of Standby Buster sockets can be grouped into a zone. Your zones might be by room (living room, office, bedroom) or by function (home entertainment, lighting and computer equipment). There is also and ‘All Off’ button.

Why do appliances have a standby mode?
The reason is generally convenience. Standby puts appliances into a state in which they consume less electricity than when they are on and are ready to be activated by using a remote control or pressing a button. The energy consumed in this state is effectively wasted. The convenience of switching on with a remote control is retained by using a Standby Buster.

Why is standby a bad thing?
Many domestic appliances have a standby mode – consumers may think they have switched the appliance off but it is still using electricity to stay in a standby state that is readily available for use. This unnecessary electricity consumption costs money and directly contributes to increased carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, which are harmful to the environment.
